Dota 2 Heroes: 127 Heroes, Attributes & Difficulty
Database · Independent community strategy site
Dota 2 currently has 127 heroes (as of 2026-09-02, the 7.41 era). Heroes are grouped by four primary attributes, and the newest addition is Largo, a strength support. This page covers the hero count, the attribute classes, the newest hero, and how the official difficulty tiers help you pick your first heroes.
How Many Heroes Are There
The current total is 127, having grown from 126 to 127 between late 2025 and 2026. The number changes whenever a new hero ships, so check the in-game compendium or Liquipedia's current list for the latest figure.
The Four Attribute Classes
Heroes are grouped by primary attribute:
- Strength — durable, front-line fighters (36 heroes).
- Agility — physical damage and attack speed (35 heroes).
- Intelligence — spellcasters and magic damage (34 heroes).
- Universal — flexible, hybrid scaling (22 heroes).
Third-party tallies (tagged 7.41) put the split at 36 / 35 / 34 / 22, totaling 127 — pending verification against Liquipedia. Your attribute shapes your scaling: Strength leans tanky, Agility leans physical DPS, Intelligence leans spell-based, and Universal stays flexible.
The Newest Heroes: Largo and Kez
- Largo, the frog bard, is the latest hero — a Strength support released in patch 7.40 on 2025-12-16.
- Kez arrived earlier, on 2024-11-07.
Difficulty Tiers and Hero Picks
The in-game hero compendium lets you filter by role, type, strengths and complexity, with complexity rated 1–3 (simple / medium / hard). High-complexity (3) heroes include Meepo, Invoker, Chen, Arc Warden, Lone Druid, Io, Earth Spirit and Morphling. Complexity-1 starter heroes commonly recommended include Wraith King, Sniper, Viper, Crystal Maiden, Ogre Magi, Lion and Tidehunter.
