Dota 2 Ranks & Medals: All 8 Tiers, Stars and MMR Ranges

Ranking · Independent community strategy site

Dota 2 has eight ranks, from Herald up to Immortal. Every rank except Immortal is split into five stars, and each rank maps to a rough MMR range. Here's the full ladder and where most players land.

The Eight Ranks, Low to High

  1. Herald
  2. Guardian
  3. Crusader
  4. Archon
  5. Legend
  6. Ancient
  7. Divine
  8. Immortal

Every rank except Immortal is further divided into five stars (Herald 1–5, Archon 1–5, and so on). Immortal has no stars and instead feeds into regional leaderboards.

MMR Ranges by Rank

These are community-observed values, not official, and vary slightly by source:

  • Herald — 0–769 MMR
  • Guardian — 770–1539 MMR
  • Crusader — 1540–2309 MMR
  • Archon — 2310–3079 MMR
  • Legend — 3080–3849 MMR
  • Ancient — 3850–4619 MMR
  • Divine — 4620–5619 MMR
  • Immortal — 5620+ (some sources say 5420+ or 6000+)

Adjacent stars in the lower ranks are roughly 154 MMR apart.

Player Distribution

Third-party data (Hawk Live, 2025) puts the share of players at each rank as:

  • Archon — 22.75%
  • Crusader — 22.49%
  • Legend — 16.31%
  • Guardian — 15.68%
  • Ancient — 8.94%
  • Herald — 7.34%
  • Divine — 4.58%
  • Immortal — 1.91%

Immortal is the top ~2%, Divine the top ~5%, and Ancient roughly the top 9–13%. MMR thresholds aren't official and shift with patches and region — treat every boundary as approximate.
